there’s a bird who lives outside the library whose chirping is so loud that i can hear it through the walls and heavy doors. it’s a very cheerful noise to hear when you’re stuck inside on a lovely day.

two-lips

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

this evening, at my last storytime of the month, one of my favorite families from my old library showed up with a handful of beautiful purple (and one pink) tulip they had brought from their yard. yay! what a nice surprise to see them and i got flowers to boot!

dandelion time!

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

ok, most people don’t get excited about dandelions and even i am not fond of them when they crop up in my flower beds, but this is the week of the year when they’re really cool because they are suddenly prolific, causing fuzzy yellow carpets to appear on the side of the road and in [...]

Friday, April 21st, 2006

the bliss of stillness

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

when i was riding my bike to choir, the wind was pretty strong in certain places. when it wasn’t strong, the act of me riding a bicycle and pushing myself through air made a sort of a breeze (strong enough that it whistled in my ears) but every once in awhile (perhaps when the wind [...]

blossoming trees

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

on sunday, when we were driving to our pastor’s church after the sunrise service for pancakes, i saw a beautiful tree in someone’s yard. it was covered in fluffy pink-white blossoms. it was so pretty, i just wished i could smell it! two years ago, when we went to visit friends and family in virginia [...]

news

Sunday, April 16th, 2006

i have a bad habit of not watching the news. (ok, i do watch the daily show and get a dose of current events from jon stewart, but… he does have a bit of a bias…then again, who in the news doesn’t have a bias these days?) some may accuse me of sticking my head [...]
