i have a bad habit of not watching the news. (ok, i do watch the daily show and get a dose of current events from jon stewart, but… he does have a bit of a bias…then again, who in the news doesn’t have a bias these days?) some may accuse me of sticking my head in the sand, but the news tends to only report really terrible things happening that i have no control over and it’s just really depressing. instead, i rely on my husband occasionally starting a conversation with me that goes something like this,
mr. h-s: “so, did you hear about the tornado that flattened the midwest/bombing in somelargecity/those two kids that got kidnapped?”
me: “no”
mr. h-s: “what?! good lord! where have you been? it’s been all over the news for the past four days! [big sigh.] well, here’s what happened…”
so, i figure i get all of the really big headline news between him and jon stewart, so i’m probably doing just fine.
yesterday, i read in a magazine about a website called happy news that seeks out … happy news. i thought i’d share it with you in case you wanted to add more balance to your newsy lives.
