the other day, one of my co-workers was trying to balance the cash drawer and was getting frustrated and i overheard her say, “oh, sugar beans, booger beans!” and it made me laugh. it also reminded me of a long-ago boss of mine who used a similar “silly swear” of “oh, beans.” when she was a little frustrated and “oh, bean soup!” when she was a little more frustrated. i’m not sure where i picked it up, but my favorite silly swear for the last few years has been “poo bunnies!” i know it doesn’t make any more sense than “booger beans” but it seems to serve the purpose of venting frustration and also making me (and anyone listening) laugh, immediately diffusing the situation. i am also fond of the more standard, “fiddlesticks.” what’s your favorite silly swear?

I had a friend who used to use eating utensils instead of swearing. She’d yell, “OH FORK!” or “Spoons!”
My dad, having spent over a year in Korea while in the air force, is fond of saying a word that is probably based on *something* in Korean. I have no idea how to spell it, but it sounds like: NUN-dish-kuh! We’d know when Dad hit his thumb instead of the nail whenever we’d hear it, and of course we’d giggle while feeling sorry for him. Poor guy.
Relatedly, when he’d want us meddling kids out of his hair, he’d say, “Am-Scray!” It took me years to discover that he was shooing us away in Pig Latin! (Oh, and how “vintage” is the word “Scram”?!)
mine is ‘muffin!’. i don’t use it nearly as much as ‘poo’, though.
a few years ago i used a lot of seemlingly old fashioned words like ‘curses’, ‘drat’ and … gah, i can’t think of the other one. oh well. you get the idea. :)
how about Geez Louise?!
Bumlazers is a firm favorite about these parts. (The Rock Star made it up.)My dad used to occasionally swear in Pennsylvania Dutch when I was a kid if he hurt himself in his workshop. It sounded like, “Schtun und Dunnavetter!” which I think means “stars and thunderweather”. He’s since told me that he learned that one from his dad along with a bunch of others that he has NO idea about the meaning of.
i thought of the other one! i used to say ‘blast!’ quite a bit. :D
