things that made me smile today

1.  today i rode my bike to work for the first time since last fall.  i did get mr. happy stuff to come give me a ride home, but that was because it was very cold outside after the sun went down.  the ride into work was very invigorating.

2.  i got my ring back from repair!  i’d felt a rough patch on the top of my engagement ring last week, so i took it in to the repair shop to see if it was something i needed to worry about.  they said that the setting for the diamond needed to be tightened, so i left it there for about a week (i’ve felt like that finger was naked the whole time) and today i got it back and it’s so shiny!  and smooth again!

3.  my last “world neighbors storytime” was tonight at work.  it’s a series where i’ve invited community members who speak languages other than english to come in and share some stories in their language with us.  we’ve had hindi, portuguese, mandarin chinese, german and tonight was spanish.  there was a bit of panic when i learned last week that my original spanish language volunteer backed out, but i was absolutely thrilled with the person who came to do the program this evening.  she’s only 19 and she works at another branch of my library, but she has taught preschool (in chile) and loves working with kids and is totally comfortable in both english and spanish and just did a wonderful job.  i love ending the series on a high note.

4.  i got to spend some quality time in the sewing room this morning working on my common threads quilt.  ah…..
