{"id":762,"date":"2008-10-03T14:43:24","date_gmt":"2008-10-03T19:43:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jayandcarissa.com\/carissa\/blog\/?p=762"},"modified":"2008-10-03T14:43:24","modified_gmt":"2008-10-03T19:43:24","slug":"pie-for-breakfast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thisishappystuff.com\/?p=762","title":{"rendered":"pie for breakfast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/carissaabc\/SOWQMQEtxOI\/AAAAAAAAI4g\/eroCKlP3guk\/s800\/IMGP4756.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"493\" height=\"327\" \/><\/p>\n<p>so, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jayandcarissa.com\/carissa\/blog\/?p=756\">last week was apple pie<\/a> for my man.\u00c2\u00a0 this week was peach custard pie for me, me, me!\u00c2\u00a0 (okay, i&#8217;ll share a little bit with mr. h-s.)\u00c2\u00a0 since i didn&#8217;t have any more frozen crusts and since i was out of crisco (a key ingredient in my dad&#8217;s favorite pie crust recipe), i decided to try just substituting butter.\u00c2\u00a0 i also took this opportunity to try making a pie crust in my new, 9-cup food processor (it&#8217;s so smoooooth&#8230;.).\u00c2\u00a0 of course, after rolling out the crusts, i had to roll the scraps into pie-crust-cinnamon-rolls (a long-standing pie tradition in my family).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/carissaabc\/SOWQOerZdYI\/AAAAAAAAI4o\/nvobypoUO24\/s800\/IMGP4757.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"491\" height=\"327\" \/><\/p>\n<p>but i think i didn&#8217;t roll the crust thin enough.\u00c2\u00a0 or maybe it&#8217;s just a butter crust thing.\u00c2\u00a0 they were a little more chewy than flaky.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/carissaabc\/SOWQQPqHmWI\/AAAAAAAAI4w\/qGf3jnSNEAY\/s800\/IMGP4758.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"490\" height=\"325\" \/><\/p>\n<p>and then i baked this delicious looking pie.\u00c2\u00a0 i may have used too many peaches (the custard spilled over the sides onto the cookie sheet i&#8217;d placed the pie pan on).\u00c2\u00a0 the pie stayed in the oven for at least twice the amount of time that the recipe called for, but it was by no means over-baked.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/carissaabc\/SOWQTHxtRLI\/AAAAAAAAI5A\/Zs0r3QjjvVE\/s800\/IMGP4760.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"496\" height=\"329\" \/><\/p>\n<p>it was truly challenging to have to wait until the pie was cool (it&#8217;s waaaaay better cold than warm or hot), so of course, i had to have <a href=\"http:\/\/lifeofadomesticgoddess.blogspot.com\/2008\/09\/sure.html\">a slice for breakfast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/carissaabc\/SOWQR17JIdI\/AAAAAAAAI44\/J65PrLEOg4c\/s800\/IMGP4762.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"498\" height=\"331\" \/><\/p>\n<p>two days in a row.<\/p>\n<p>maybe three.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>so, last week was apple pie for my man.\u00c2\u00a0 this week was peach custard pie for me, me, me!\u00c2\u00a0 (okay, i&#8217;ll share a little bit with mr. h-s.)\u00c2\u00a0 since i didn&#8217;t have any more frozen crusts and since i was &hellip;
