\"\"<\/a>we spent thanksgiving this year with mr. happy stuff’s family.\u00c2\u00a0 on thanksgiving day, after all the food was consumed and a walk was taken, we did christmas-related crafts (i must take this tradition to all my future thanksgiving get-togethers.\u00c2\u00a0 love it!).\u00c2\u00a0 we started off simply with these gift tags<\/a> (with hand-drawn accents instead of pre-printed), then graduated to these fabric origami stars<\/a>, then thought we’d wrap up with these simple “fortune cookie” ornaments<\/a> (original non-ornament cookie tutorial here<\/a>).\u00c2\u00a0 the thing was, we didn’t have felt, and when we finished the ornaments, they just looked a little odd.\u00c2\u00a0 but as i played around with the shape, i saw that you could also flip it into a double-cone shape and that inspired these trees!\u00c2\u00a0 here’s a tutorial for you.<\/p>\n

supplies:\u00c2\u00a0 you’ll need 2-6 pieces of fabric and some heat-n-bond<\/a> (you could also just use a single piece of felt instead).\u00c2\u00a0 the size of your fabric will determine the size of your finished tree.\u00c2\u00a0 i think ours were 6″ squares?\u00c2\u00a0 you will also need some sort of cord to hang your ornament with (not pictured here).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>1.\u00c2\u00a0 iron the wrong side of one of your fabrics to the plastic-y side of the heat-n-bond (following package instructions).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>2.\u00c2\u00a0 peel the paper backing off.\u00c2\u00a0 the plastic should now be stuck to the fabric.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>3.\u00c2\u00a0 place that shiny fabric onto the wrong side of your other fabric and iron those two together.\u00c2\u00a0 (you’re basically creating a two-sided fabric.)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>4.\u00c2\u00a0 find something circular (to trace) that’s almost as big as your fabric.\u00c2\u00a0 use a pencil to trace a circle on your fabric.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>5.\u00c2\u00a0 cut out the circle using pinking shears.\"\"<\/a>6.\u00c2\u00a0 repeat the process twice more, making progressively smaller circles.\"\"<\/a>7.\u00c2\u00a0 fold each circle in half, and stitch down the middle, leaving a gap on the folded edge (see pictures below).\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>8.\u00c2\u00a0 then flip them inside out.\u00c2\u00a0 this is a bit tricky to explain, so here’s a little video:<\/p>\n
