{"id":1195,"date":"2009-10-11T16:47:27","date_gmt":"2009-10-11T21:47:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thisishappystuff.com\/?p=1195"},"modified":"2009-10-11T16:47:27","modified_gmt":"2009-10-11T21:47:27","slug":"a-walk-in-the-woods","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thisishappystuff.com\/?p=1195","title":{"rendered":"a walk in the woods"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"woods1\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_ETB_wSU3fUw\/StJOnXDNmYI\/AAAAAAAAM2U\/XZRrks_rMMo\/s720\/IMGP4201.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"482\" height=\"320\" \/><\/p>\n<p>although we live in the middle of the city, our home is near a nature preserve, so we have easy access to &#8220;the woods.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 we&#8217;ve been in this house for about 6 years and earlier this spring discovered (for the first time) a lovely path back into those woods that is partially paved and wide and very nice to walk or run on.\u00c2\u00a0 our first visit was cut short, however, by a vicious and ravenous cloud of mosquitoes so we haven&#8217;t been back to visit the trail very often.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"woods2\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_ETB_wSU3fUw\/StJOoTv_vBI\/AAAAAAAAM2c\/NKOd_IPzN1Y\/s720\/IMGP4210.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"318\" \/><\/p>\n<p>this morning at breakfast, mr. happy stuff mentioned that he&#8217;d like to go for a walk back in the woods today.\u00c2\u00a0 the weather was chilly, but sunny and since we&#8217;d had our first frost, the mosquitoes shouldn&#8217;t be a problem.\u00c2\u00a0 so, after finishing our waffles, we bundled up, grabbed the camera, and headed out. something about our walk today reminded me of my childhood when i&#8217;d play in the woods with my cousins.\u00c2\u00a0 we liked to build fairy houses.\u00c2\u00a0 don&#8217;t those acorn caps, still on the branch above, remind you of a hat store for fairies?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"moss\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_ETB_wSU3fUw\/StJOqwRZttI\/AAAAAAAAM2s\/Y0IBf9eBkts\/s720\/IMGP4180.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"492\" height=\"328\" \/><\/p>\n<p>and that moss?\u00c2\u00a0 fabulous shag carpeting for a fairy house!\u00c2\u00a0 the mushrooms would make nice bookshelves, too. mr. happy stuff found a map of the trail (on our way home&#8211;we&#8217;d missed it on the way in and were just sort of &#8220;trailblazing&#8221;
